1|2 About UsThe George Mason University Sexual Assault Services office was created on December 1, 1993. Since then, Sexual Assault Services has expanded to serve students at all three campuses of George Mason University. With the support of the Violence Against Women Act, Sexual Assault Services has two staff members funded by a V-STOP Grant, the V-STOP Grant administered by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. This grant has been awarded to Sexual Assault Services yearly since 1997. Sexual Assault Services has also been the recipient of grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control administered by the Virginia Department of Health for the prevention of sexual violence on the college campus. Five such grants have been awarded to Sexual Assault Services. The services Sexual Assault Services offers to students include:
Confidentiality of servicesSexual Assault Services is here to provide a safe space in which to meet the needs of our clients and will make every effort to preserve our clients' privacy. Information will be shared by members of the Sexual Assault Services staff, so that we may better serve our clients and provide them the services they request and/or require. Incidents of sexual assault that occur on campus are recorded for federal statistical purposes, without use of identifying information (i.e. names, initials, or contact information). |
